Deadhead daffodils
Deadhead the spent flower heads but make sure that you leave the foliage to die down naturally as this helps ensure good flower growth next year.

2. Cut back Cornus & Willow stems
You can help promote new colourful stems next year by hard pruning Cornus and Willow shrubs now. Cut back to approx 5cm from the ground.

3. Mulch borders
Mulching your flower beds helps improve soil structure, suppresses weeds and locks moisture into the soil. Mulch to a depth of 5cm around plants, taking care to avoid contact with woody stems and trunks. Composted bark, leaf mould and mushroom composts make great mulches.

4. Prune Winter Jasmine
Once it has finished flowering, cut back Winter flowering jasmine to keep it within it's space.

5. Plant Summer flowering bulbs
Now is the time to plant Nerines and Lillies for a late Summer blast of colour.
